Privacy Policy — Dextora

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly: name, email, phone number, delivery address, and — for sellers — NIN and identity documents. We also record your acceptance of our Terms and Privacy Policy (including the date and time), and collect order, payment, and usage data automatically when you use Dextora.

2. How we use your information

We use your data to operate the marketplace, process orders, verify sellers, deliver in-app and transactional email notifications about your orders and account, prevent fraud, and improve Dextora.

3. Phone number & verification

We use your phone number to help verify your identity, to contact you about your orders, and to help prevent fraud. We do not use your phone number for marketing without your consent.

4. Sharing your information

We share necessary details with sellers (delivery name, address, phone) to fulfil orders, with Paystack to process payments, with our transactional email provider to deliver order and account emails, with Cloudinary to host product and profile images you upload, and with law enforcement when legally required. We never sell your personal data.

5. KYC documents

NIN images and selfies are stored in a private, encrypted bucket accessible only to you and Dextora's verification team. They are used solely for identity verification and are never shared with buyers or other sellers.

6. Notifications & broadcasts

Dextora sends you in-app notifications (order updates, messages, reviews) and, occasionally, in-app broadcasts from our team about the marketplace. Transactional emails (order confirmations, delivery updates, KYC decisions) are sent to your account email. You can manage notification preferences from your dashboard.

7. In-app messages

Messages you send through Dextora chat (text and any images you attach) are stored on our servers so both participants can see the conversation history. Messages are automatically screened and phone numbers, emails, links and social handles are masked before storage to protect you from off-platform scams. Our team may access a conversation only when investigating a dispute, fraud report or abuse report, or where required by law. We do not sell your messages or use them for advertising.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure to comply with legal obligations.

7. Your rights

You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. Closing your account removes your listings and personal profile.

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption, row-level security on our database, and secure payment infrastructure. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as your theme.
